A protest is being organised by New Socialist Alternative (CWI-India) on 23rd Oct. 2013, in solidarity with the Workers’ Cause in China.

Wu Guijun, a worker and Trade Union activist has been held in police detention since 23rd May of this year – in protest against the criminalisation of workers’ struggle in China. Wu Guijun’s imprisonment brings to us the memory of more than a year long jailing of the 147 heroic Maruthi Suzuki workers in India. Around the world, the working class are once again showing combative spirits and are challenging the capitalist rulers. read more

Support the striking workers of Pradeep Laminators in Pune!

Chakan industrial estate on north of the city of Pune hosts hundreds of industrial units operating across various sectors including engineering, automobile, packaging. Pradeep Laminators Pvt Ltd, is one of such units manufacturing flexible packaging material and employing more than 100 workers. Fed up with continued oppression, workers under the banner of ‘Pradeep Laminators Workers’ Union’ have began agitation starting last Friday (7th June). read more

HCL Recruits Stage Hunger Strike

About 100 HCL fresh recruits who have been denied jobs by HCL for about a year now staged a day long hunger strike on 30th March at Freedom Park (protest point) in Bangalore. All the promises of joining dates made by the company HR have proven to be false all along and it remains to be seen whether the labour department does indeed take action against HCL as per its 5th April deadline. According to the Press release statement by the HCL recruits, police had denied them permission to protest outside HCL premises. The protest was supported by AIITEA, Free Software Movement and IT/ ITES Employees center, along with the some of the Central Trade Unions like AITUC & CITU. read more
