In response to the attack on the anti-POSCO protesters by a private militia linked to the ruling party with rods and country made bombs, the protesters are currently trying to secure their defence position from the coastal side in order to prevent any further attempt by the militia or the police from gaining access to the villages. read more

Brave fight by a tiny workforce in Pune

With the onslaught of neo-liberal policies labour laws are being weakened or dismantled all together. While capitalist class is crying hoarse for making labour laws further ‘flexible’, these policies are brutally attacking the rights of working class. Among the worst impacted are those working in smaller industrial units that are generally unorganized and hence more vulnerable to these attacks. However despite all odds these workers are fighting hard to uphold their rights and earn better wages. read more

Solidarity Appeal From Anti- POSCO Movement

The following is the statement by the anti – POSCO movement, POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) on the recent attacks on the protesters by the hired goons of the government and POSCO, with rods and petrol bombs, critically injuring many. After a lull in the Orissa government push to illegally acquire the land for POSCO, they are back once again, this time in the form of a private militia linked to the ruling BJD party in Orissa. The Orissa government is trying by any means necessary to cow down the peasants and fisher folk of Dhinkia, Gobindpur and Nuagaon to give up on their precious land for the POSCO project. read more

The successful 12 day fast by 127 people (till 22nd September 2011) near the site of the Koodankulam nuclear plant (Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu) marks a significant step for the anti-nuclear movement in India. For more than 2 decades now people of Koodankulam particularly around the village of Idinthakaria have been struggling an almost daily battle against the setting up of nuclear power plant in the area with significant consequences on the lives and livelihood of many fisher people community in the area. read more
