\"Rage<\/a>As part of the nationwide outrage<\/a> against the gang rape and death of a 23 year old student on 17th December in Delhi, Bangalore too has witnessed many protests and candle light vigils organized by different groups, political organizations, NGO’s etc.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The New Socialist Alternative<\/a> (CWI-India)<\/em>, apart from participating in various other protests, was involved in organizing two protests on 29th December and 30th December titled – Freedom Miles \u2013 Basavanagudi to Jayanagar<\/a> and Men Against Sexual Violence, Men for Gender Justice <\/a>respectively, along with many other progressive organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Freedom Miles was primarily a protest march between two prominent commercial localities in Bangalore. Shouting slogans like \u201cWe want Justice\u201d, Stop Violence against Women\u201d, etc, about 100 people took part in the protest. The protest was addressed by Jagadish G Chandra<\/a>{{1}}, Manohar Elavarthi{{2}}, Rameswari Varma{{3}}, Swar Thounaojam{{4}} were among the prominent people who spoke during the protest. Men For Gender Justice protest was organized at Town Hall and was attended by over 200 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The New Socialist Alternative<\/strong><\/em> brought out 2000 leaflets titled \u2013 Rage Against Rape, Resist Sexual Violence<\/a> for these two protests. We also sold about 150 papers<\/a> in about all the protests that we have participated so far on this issue. In the coming days, we will be part of more such initiatives and protests that are in the process of being planned to not only make the streets of Bangalore safe for women but raise the issue of violence against women on a more political level, linking it to the exploitation under capitalism.<\/span><\/p>\n
