{"id":1941,"date":"2011-12-12T05:02:57","date_gmt":"2011-12-12T04:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/socialism.in\/?p=1941"},"modified":"2026-03-27T05:30:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T00:00:54","slug":"condemn-the-communal-attack-on-journalist-shahina-nafeesa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socialism.in\/?p=1941","title":{"rendered":"Condemn the communal attack on Journalist Shahina Nafeesa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><em>On Friday the 9th of December,     <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unikagency.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ukraine dating ladies<\/a><strong>Shahina Nafeesa<\/strong> a senior journalist presently working with OPEN magazine formerly with TEHELKA was attacked by the communal hooligans owing allegiance to to the Sangh Parivar, this incident occurred when Shahina was travelling back from Madikeri, where she was summoned by the local&nbsp; magistrate in connection with the Madani&#8217;s case. <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Shahina, had reached&nbsp;Taluk office Somawarpet, Kodagu&nbsp;in Karnataka on a Motor Bike with her friend, after the proceedings with the magistrate when she was about to ride back home, she was asked by the Karnataka Police not to ride on a bike but organise a car, as she is under threat of an attack. Shahina argued with the police to the effect that it was the duty of the police to protect her and they will have to provide her the security cover. The police on the spot refused any such facility, Shahina had to phone the CID in Bangalore to persuade the police to give her the police protection.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">While travelling in a police vehicle, a mob of 70 to 80 people attacked the police vehicle with a clear intent of harming Shahina, and the mob&nbsp;pelted stones at the Police vehicle and tried to stop it shouting intimidating slogans and waving black flags. Initially the local police was inactive and they refrained from their duty to provide adequate security for Shahina. Later, clearly after Shahina complained the IO , the DSP of COD Bangalore, the Kodagu police escorted her off the Tahsil office to one of her friends house in Kushal Ngaar and from there she caught a bus to Mysore .<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">It is a despicable act, has to be condemned by one and all who believe in democratic values and the concept of freedom. when one looks at the details of this attack, there is no doubt that it was instigated by the Karnataka police themselves, they had prior knowledge of the attack on Shahina Nafeesa. Karnataka Police having failed to establish any tangible evidence to prove their charges against Shahina are now resorting to diversionary tactics of inciting communal attack to give the whole issue a communal colour and bring in the Sangh Parivar into the issue.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">We at <strong>Peoples&#8217; Solidarity Concerns<\/strong>-Bangalore, <strong>New socialist alternative (CWI-India)<\/strong>, <strong>Tamil Solidarity<\/strong> and various class and secular organisations condemn this attack unequivocally.We hold the Karnataka Police and the BJP government of Karnataka responsible for this dastardly and cowardly attack on a Journalist.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\">We call upon all the Trade Unions, democratic organisations, secular people to take note of these growing attacks on the freedom of people, women and on those who espouse the cause of justice, equality and democracy.
