The Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott would be visiting Delhi this week to clinch the uranium supply agreement with India.

This deal is utterly unacceptable as it would fuel an anachronistic, anti-people and unsafe nuclear expansion in India. besides, the deal would unleash misery on the most vulnerable people on both the sides. The uranium mining in Australia is known to be racist, leaving the aboriginal communities helpless and victimised. After reaching the Indian shores, the uranium will cause contamination to the poor Indian people from the transport routes to the reactor sites. India has an extremely poor record of safety and its own mines and power plants have been causing irreversible damage to health and the surrounding environment. read more

Protest Against Environmental Clearance to POSCO

On 15th January, New Socialist Alternative (CWI-India) along with other pro- people organizations protested at Town hall in Bangalore, under the banner of People’s solidarity concerns- Bangalore as part of National Day of Protest against POSCO. POSCO has been involved in forcible land acquisition for the project much before the recent environmental clearances were accorded. It has also been involved in acts to violently suppress the anti-POSCO struggle through every unconstitutional and illegal means, from hiring criminal elements to intimidation and murder of local activists spearheading the movement, exposing the extent to which they are willing to bypass the law to bulldoze their way through. read more

Release Wu Guijun Solidarity Protest – Bangalore

As part of the International day of Solidarity action by the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI) for the release of the Chinese worker – Wu Guijun, the New Socialist Alternative (CWI-India) held a solidarity protest at Town Hall in Bangalore. About 30 people attended the protest which included students and activists. We also brought out over 10 posters both in English and Kannada. read more
