The following article is based on a talk given by the radical intellectual and activist, Sanjay Basu Mallick of Jangal Bachao Andolan (Save Forest Movement) and NFFPFW (National Forum for Forest People and Forest Workers) recently in Bangalore, who has been tirelessly working among the Adivasis (Indian aboriginals) in Jharkhand for the past three to four decades. No Bailouts! It must be ‘Jail -In’ to these corporate robbers

The recent bailout plea by the liquor baron and promoter of Kingfisher airlines – Vijay Mallya seeking government intervention could not have looked more humiliating for the ‘the king of good times’. Only the king has fallen on bad times and all of his own making. If we strictly stick to the free market philosophy of no government intervention or oversight over the industry and a free rein over the market, then Kingfisher airlines should be allowed to fail. read more

Video: New Socialist Speaks out Against the closure of Govt. Run Schools

On the day of Kannada Rajyotsava (Karnataka Formation Day), November 1st 2011, all the Kannada language lovers were aghast at the Government’s order to close down 3000 and odd Kannada Medium Schools in the State, on the pretext that there were not enough students in the classes. The Kannada Language organisations organised a protest on the issue, Cde. Jagadish G Chandra of New Socialist Alternative (CWI – India) was one of the speakers at the rally, explaining the privatisation spree of the governments both in the state and at the centre. read more
