American Imperialist intentions stand exposed yet again at the cost of revealing the true character of Indian ruling class. The recent cable expose by the whistle blower site – Wikileaks (published by the Hindu) has truly exposed the true nature of bourgeoisie democracy in India & who really runs the show behind the scenes. Every party irrespective of ideology including the CPI(M) stand exposed & reveals how all political parties have been bending backwards in order to placate US imperialism.
The Congress Government already under tremendous pressure, after complete sell-out of public services to corporate greed, finds itself morally rendered impotent with scams hitting them one after the other & stands weakened compared to the post 2009 election victory euphoria. The succession of scams like Adarsh, CWG & 2G have completely overwhelmed the government & the Wikileaks expose was probably the last thing the govt. expected. But unfortunately the problem that stands at the face of the Indian working people, peasants & all other oppressed classes today is a lack of an alternative & looking at all the options available from the right, left or centre, there is no alternative available indeed!
It would be worthwhile to note at this juncture that it was during the BJP’s NDA regime (1998-2004) that the population surviving below poverty line actually increased (despite all the pro govt. surveys that were trying to prove the contrary!). If anything the duplicity of the BJP stands exposed especially its perceived moral high ground of claiming to stand for nationalism & Hindutva. If wiki expose on BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley are anything to go by, all this was mere political gimmicks of the BJP to fool the masses & a clever ploy of being ever more subservient to imperialism.
And so while the ground situation remains fluid at present with the so called lesser evil of supposedly secular pro capitalist Congress continuing to prevail over the overtly communal BJP or the faction ridden coalition of regional parties including the left, but it still continues to be a dream of society’s right to “no evil” to be actualised!! The recent awakening of the youth & middle classes of the country over the Lokpal Bill (Anti-corruption act) with the focal point of protest focussed on the fast unto death vow taken by the veteran Gandhian social activist Anna Hazare & subsequent capitulation of the govt. to heed to this popular demand, is an important pointer in the politicization of the youth of this country.
However, neither an anti- corruption act nor a vigilant civil society is enough, as corruption is merely a symptom of the deeper malaise of a society under capitalism & landlordism which is the root cause of all evils plaguing India today. And let us not be fooled by likes of Baba Ramdev (who is an out & out reactionary), Sri Sri Ravishankar (another fake spirutual guru), the corporate & NGO promoters of the protest & even Anna Hazare himself, who while extorting people on an anti corruption crusade across the country, is an arch supporter of Capitalism & landlordism, whose recent praise of the pro capitalist & communal Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s rural developmental (or destructive) works & Raj Thackeray’s parochial politics in Maharashtra earlier, are some instances why one needs to be careful while giving issue based support on issues such as corruption.
So it’s time for the youth, working class & all the other toiling classes to realize that mere sloganeering won’t change society tomorrow. For this to happen an alternative force has to be build that consciously raises the need for a socialist revolution as the only alternative before humanity today.
And It’s Time rather HIGH TIME that the youth especially take the initiative forward by questioning every authority & struggle for what they think is right rather than settling for the least compromised agenda!!
